When you submit a request, GearSwap notifies every eligible wrecker in our national network. You'll receive quote notifications by email or in your buyer dashboard. There's no obligation to accept any quote.
What to Include for the Best Results
The more detail you provide, the more accurate the quotes you'll receive:
- Year, make, model and body type (e.g., 2018 Toyota Camry Sedan)
- Engine size and transmission type if the part is drivetrain-related
- VIN number — unlocks fitment-exact matching and reduces mis-quotes significantly
- OEM part number if you have it (check your owner's manual or the old part itself)
- Condition expectation: will you accept a B-grade part or do you need A-grade only?
- A photo of the mounting area or the damaged part you're replacing
How Pricing Works
Quotes vary by seller, condition grade and your location. A part quoted at $80 from a local wrecker might arrive cheaper total than a $60 quote from interstate once postage is factored in. GearSwap displays total landed cost (part + postage) on every quote so you're comparing apples with apples.
Free to Post — You Only Pay When You're Ready
Posting a request costs nothing. You only pay when you choose to accept a quote. Payment is held by GearSwap in escrow until you confirm the part has arrived and matches the description. If it doesn't, your funds are protected.
Track Your Requests
Once logged in, all your active requests, received quotes and order history are visible in your request dashboard. You'll get email notifications as new quotes come in so you never miss a competitive offer.

How many wreckers will see my request?
All verified GearSwap sellers who stock that part category — typically dozens across Australia — are notified when a new matching request is posted.
Can I request multiple parts at once?
Yes. You can post separate requests for each part, or add a note in your request describing additional items. Sellers can quote on one or all parts you need.
What if no one quotes on my request?
If your request doesn't attract quotes within 48 hours, we'll send you a prompt to broaden your criteria (e.g. accept a lower condition grade) and may also suggest browsing similar in-stock listings.
Is my phone number shared with sellers?
No. All communication happens through GearSwap's messaging system. Your personal contact details are never shared with sellers unless you choose to reveal them.
