Glass parts — frequently asked questions
Can I buy a used windscreen?
Used windscreens are available but freight is expensive (specialist glass freight) and a small chip in transit ruins the whole part. For windscreens, a new aftermarket replacement fitted by a windscreen specialist is usually the right choice. Used glass is more practical for side and rear windows.
How much is a used side window or quarter glass?
Used side door glass typically runs $50–$180 per piece. Rear glass and quarter glass run $80–$300. Tinted glass from factory donors is also available — quote the tint level when ordering so you don't end up with a mismatched window.
Will I need to recalibrate ADAS sensors after replacing the windscreen?
Yes — modern cars with lane-keep assist, AEB and adaptive cruise mount cameras to the windscreen and require ADAS recalibration after any windscreen replacement. Budget $250–$600 for the recalibration on top of the glass and fitting.
Are used sunroof glass panels available?
Yes — sunroof glass and full sunroof assemblies are commonly stocked when the donor vehicle had one. Always order the complete sunroof cassette if your car's existing tracks or motor are also damaged, as fitting just the glass to a damaged frame can leak.
