Wheels & Tyres parts — frequently asked questions

Can I buy used genuine OEM wheels?

Yes — used factory wheels and mag wheels are widely available from Australian wreckers, sold individually or as full sets of four. Genuine OEM wheels guarantee correct offset, hub bore and PCD for your car, which aftermarket wheels don't always.

Should I buy used tyres?

Used tyres are a legal grey area — they must have legal tread depth (1.5 mm minimum), no sidewall damage and a date code less than 5–7 years old. For safety, new mid-tier tyres from a reputable brand are usually a smarter buy than used premium tyres of unknown history.

How do I check used wheels for damage?

Ask the wrecker for photos of the inside and outside of each rim, including the bead seat and any kerb rash. Cracks (especially radial cracks from the bolt holes outward) are a binning issue. Light kerb rash is cosmetic. Heavy buckling can sometimes be straightened by a wheel repair specialist.

Will used OEM wheels fit any car?

No — wheels are matched to a car's PCD (bolt pattern), centre bore and offset. Two visually similar wheels can have completely different fitment. Always quote your year, make and model when buying used wheels and confirm the part number matches.
